Hyderabad: Telangana High Court has directed the respondents to submit a memo confirming the renewal of working journalists’ accreditation cards.
A Division Bench heard a contempt case filed by the Telangana State Urdu Working Journalists Federation. Its secretary, Sri Ghouse Mohiuddin, represented the federation in the case.
Justice P. Sam Koshy and Justice Narsing Rao Nandikonda heard the matter in Court No. 2 of the Telangana High Court. Additional Advocate General Rahul Reddy appeared for the respondents.
Rahul Reddy told the court that officials had already renewed the accreditation cards. He said the respondents had complied with the court’s earlier order.
Petitioner counsel Advocate Barkat Ali Khan disputed that submission. He told the bench that officials had not renewed the journalists’ accreditation cards.
Accreditation renewal dispute remains before Telangana HC
Khan said authorities had issued a circular to TGSRTC regarding the renewal of bus passes. He argued that treating the circular as compliance with the court order could mislead the court.
He further said officials had not renewed the accreditation cards till date. According to him, the I&PR Department had received no circular for accreditation renewal after February 28, 2026.
The petitioner’s counsel stressed that the court had specifically ordered renewal of the accreditation cards. He said the direction covered the accreditation cards and did not concern bus passes alone.
Khan therefore argued that the respondents had not complied with the April 30, 2026 order. As a result, the dispute over journalists’ accreditation remained before the court.
After hearing both sides, the Division Bench directed the respondents to place their claim on record. The respondents must file a memo confirming their statement that officials had renewed the accreditation cards.
The court posted the matter for further hearing on November 5, 2026.
