AIIA report shows 37.74 lakh patients treated in a decade

New Delhi: All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has released a report on its achievements over the past decade, documenting the expansion of its clinical services and healthcare outreach. According to the report, 37,74,524 patients received healthcare services across the institute’s main campus and its affiliated and outreach centres between October 2016 and September 2026. The institute said the milestone reflects its growing clinical reach and its continued efforts to strengthen Ayurveda-based healthcare through patient care, education and research.

Of the total, approximately 30,37,077 patients received services at AIIA’s main campus in Sarita Vihar, New Delhi. The institute’s clinical infrastructure includes outpatient department (OPD) services that can attend to approximately 3,000 patients daily, along with a 200-bed inpatient department (IPD). This enables it to cater to a large and diverse patient population.

AIIA has also extended its healthcare outreach beyond the main campus through a satellite centre in Goa. It runs affiliated and outreach facilities at Safdarjung Hospital, the UPSC Building, the National Cancer Institute at Jhajjar, the IAS Training Centre in Mussoorie, and Kevadia, Ekta Nagar. Together, these centres served approximately 7.37 lakh patients during the reporting period.

According to AIIA Director Prof. (Vaidya) P. K. Prajapati, public interest in Ayurveda rose significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the years that followed. He noted that patient footfall at the institute has increased more than fourfold, reflecting growing demand for Ayurveda-based consultations and treatment.

Patient numbers rise from 2020 to 2026

The institute attended to approximately 1.23 lakh patients in 2020. That number rose to over 5.40 lakh by September 2026.

The decade-long report was released on Foundation Day, alongside the organisation of KAUMARACON-2026. The occasion, according to the release, underscores AIIA’s focus on expanding access to clinical services while strengthening the role of Ayurveda through scientific research, quality education and institutional collaboration. The institute continues to work towards integrating traditional medical knowledge with contemporary healthcare approaches and advancing evidence-informed practices in Ayurveda.

AIIA is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. It is dedicated to advancing healthcare, education, research and innovation in Ayurveda, while promoting national and international recognition of India’s traditional systems of medicine.
