Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 460 drunk driving cases during a two-day special enforcement drive conducted on December 12 and 13 to improve road safety in the city.
During the drive, traffic teams focused on motorists driving under the influence of alcohol. Among those caught, two-wheeler riders accounted for the majority of violations. Police booked 350 cases against bike riders alone.
Three-wheeler drivers also faced action, with police registering 25 cases. In addition, enforcement teams caught 85 drivers of cars and other vehicles violating drunk driving norms.
Breath analyser tests showed a wide range of blood alcohol concentration levels. Police booked 98 cases where BAC levels ranged between 30 and 50. Another 185 cases fell in the 51 to 100 range.
Meanwhile, officers registered 99 cases with BAC levels between 101 and 150. Further checks led to 48 cases in the 151 to 200 category. Police also booked 16 cases with BAC levels between 201 and 250.
In addition, 10 drivers recorded BAC levels between 251 and 300. Four motorists registered BAC levels above 300, officials said.

Hyderabad drunk driving cases prompt zero-tolerance warning
Traffic police officials warned that they would show zero tolerance towards drunk driving violations. Therefore, special enforcement drives will continue across Hyderabad.
Officials urged commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and avoid driving after consuming alcohol. They said strict action would follow against violators to prevent accidents and save lives.
