Mangalhat police arrest two habitual offenders, seize gold chain

Hyderabad: In the Mangalhat gold chain arrest, police arrested two accused on December 19, 2025, and recovered a gold chain weighing two tolas and worth Rs 2.48 lakh in connection with a theft case registered at the police station.

Police identified the accused as Upadi Bolenath alias U. Bholanath, aged 42, and Mohammed Khadeer alias Khader, aged 26. The arrests were made in Crime No. 371/2025 registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Mangalhat police station.

The police said Bolenath worked as a shoe polisher and resided at Mallapally, while Khadeer worked as an auto driver and lived in Asif Nagar. Officers recovered the stolen gold chain from their possession during the operation.

Records revealed that both accused had extensive criminal histories across multiple police stations. Police said Bolenath had been involved in 58 cases earlier, while Khadeer had faced 55 cases before the present arrest.

Mangalhat gold chain arrest exposes serial offenders

During questioning, the accused confessed to 11 additional cases across Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda commissionerates. Police said these included five cases in Hyderabad Commissionerate, five in Cyberabad Commissionerate, and one in Rachakonda Commissionerate. In addition, Bolenath individually confessed to one more case registered at Attapur.

With these disclosures, police said Bolenath’s total involvement rose to 70 cases, while Khadeer’s count increased to 66 cases. The Mangalhat police team collected technical evidence and tracked the accused under the supervision of DCP South West Zone G. Chandra Mohan and ACP Goshamahal Division.

Police produced both accused before the court for judicial remand. Officials also appreciated constables Lalith Kumar and Balraj for swiftly detecting the case and effecting recovery, and rewarded them with cash incentives.
