DRDO–RRU MoU aligns defence research with national security needs

The MoU aims to strengthen India’s self-reliance in defence and internal security technologies. It supports the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the whole-of-nation approach during Amrit Kaal. Moreover, the agreement seeks to integrate technology, academic expertise, and operational experience to improve national security preparedness.

Rashtriya Raksha University brings strong capabilities in academics, training, and policy research related to internal security. As an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs, it also serves as the UGC-designated Nodal Centre for Defence Studies. Meanwhile, DRDO contributes indigenous technologies and system-level capabilities developed for the Armed Forces and security agencies.

Under the MoU, both institutions will jointly pursue research projects and doctoral programmes. They will also launch fellowship schemes and specialised training initiatives for security forces. In addition, the partnership will study emerging operational challenges, assess technology gaps, forecast future requirements, and support the life-cycle management of DRDO-developed systems used by Central Armed Police Forces and other agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
