Raghunandan Rao says Congress and BRS failed Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad: Medak BJP MP Raghunandan Rao on Wednesday said the Congress and the BRS had failed the people of Telangana during the recent five-day Assembly session. He described both parties as “two sides of the same coin.”

Addressing reporters, Rao accused the ruling Congress of deliberately avoiding debate on key water issues. In particular, he referred to concerns linked to the Palamuru and Krishna regions. He further alleged that nearly 20 Congress MLAs stayed away when the Chief Minister addressed the House.

At the same time, Rao criticised the BRS for boycotting the Assembly session in full. He said the principal opposition had abandoned its responsibility to question the government. “The BRS got scared and ran away,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Rao praised BJP Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy and other BJP MLAs for raising issues despite their small numbers. According to him, their performance showed serious legislative intent.

Raghunandan Rao flags defections and ticket pricing

Additionally, Rao alleged that defections helped the Congress come to power. He urged leaders who switched parties to introspect on their political choices and public accountability.

On movie ticket pricing, Rao accused the state government of selective decision-making. He claimed officials allowed higher ticket rates for films of one actor while denying the same to others. “There must be one rule for all films,” he said.

Finally, Rao appealed to the people and intellectuals of Telangana to give the BJP a chance to lead the state. He said the party would ensure transparency, accountability and equal treatment across sectors.
