Prime Minister shares article on growth of India’s textile sector

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday shared an article by Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh that highlighted textile sector growth and its contribution to jobs and economic development.

The Prime Minister drew attention to the article through a post on X. The piece traced the transformation of India’s textile industry from a legacy sector into a modern, people-centric engine aligned with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

According to the article, government initiatives played a key role in driving expansion across the textile value chain. It said focused policies helped boost manufacturing capacity while creating new employment opportunities.

The article highlighted flagship initiatives such as PM MITRA Parks and the Production Linked Incentive scheme. It said these measures encouraged large-scale investment and improved global competitiveness of Indian textiles.

Policy push and trade pacts drive sector expansion

The article also pointed to new Free Trade Agreements as a major catalyst. It said expanded market access opened fresh opportunities for exports and jobs in textiles and apparel.

Sharing the article, the Prime Minister’s Office quoted the minister as saying that textile sector growth reflected the true spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The statement described the industry as a strong, job-creating pillar of the economy.

The article further stressed reforms focused on sustainability, scale and skill development. It said these efforts aimed to position India as a global textile hub while ensuring inclusive growth.

Officials said the Prime Minister’s endorsement underlined the sector’s importance in India’s manufacturing and employment strategy.
