ECI to celebrate 16th National Voters’ Day in New Delhi

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India will celebrate the 16th National Voters’ Day 2026 on Saturday in New Delhi, highlighting citizen participation in India’s democratic process.

This year, National Voters’ Day 2026 carries the theme “My India, My Vote” with the tagline “Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy.” The annual observance marks the foundation of the Election Commission of India and promotes informed and ethical voting.

President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the event as the Chief Guest. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will attend as the Guest of Honour. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will lead the programme along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

As part of the programme, the President will address the gathering and hand over Electors Photo Identity Cards to newly enrolled young voters. She will also present the Best Electoral Practices Awards across several categories, including election management, use of technology, voter awareness, enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, and training initiatives.

National Voters’ Day 2026 to feature publications and exhibitions

The Election Commission will launch two publications during the event. These include 2025: A Year of Initiatives and Innovations and Chunav Ka Parv, Bihar Ka Garv, which documents the conduct of the Bihar elections. In addition, organisers will screen a video highlighting the ECI’s global leadership in electoral management.

The Commission has arranged a dedicated exhibition at the venue. The display will showcase electoral roll preparation and election conduct processes. It will also highlight recent voter-centric initiatives and the successful Bihar Legislative Assembly elections held in 2025.

Across the country, Chief Electoral Officers and District Election Officers will conduct parallel National Voters’ Day 2026 programmes. Meanwhile, Booth Level Officers will organise events at polling stations. They will felicitate newly registered voters and distribute EPIC cards.
