Hyderabad: Pakistan’s women’s cricket team will skip the opening ceremony of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 on September 30 in Guwahati. The event will feature a performance by playback singer Shreya Ghoshal. India and Sri Lanka are jointly hosting the tournament.
The decision follows an ICC agreement made in December. Under this deal, India and Pakistan will not tour each other’s countries until 2027. During this period, they will play each other only at neutral venues.
ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 to follow hybrid model for Pakistan fixtures
As part of the policy, Pakistan will play all its matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The team will face Bangladesh on October 2, England on October 15, New Zealand on October 18, South Africa on October 21, and Sri Lanka on October 24.
The arrangement shows how political and sporting restrictions continue to shape cricket between India and Pakistan, even as the global tournament begins.
