WCD Ministry to host national conference on SHe-Box

New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development will organise the SHe-Box conference on February 14 at Vigyan Bhawan to strengthen workplace safety and reinforce implementation of the PoSH Act.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi will attend the event and deliver the keynote address. She will also administer the National Workplace Safety Pledge. Minister of State Smt. Savitri Thakur, senior officials from Central Ministries and States, industry leaders and civil society representatives will participate.

The SHe-Box conference aims to reaffirm the government’s commitment to creating safe, dignified and harassment-free workplaces for women across sectors. It will also focus on strengthening implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

The Ministry launched the SHe-Box portal on August 29, 2024 as a secure, multilingual single-window platform. It allows women to file complaints online and ensures automatic forwarding to the concerned Internal or Local Committee. In addition, users can track complaints in real time to improve transparency and accountability.

Key sessions and launches at SHe-Box conference

The SHe-Box conference will feature an opening plenary and both national and international roundtables. Discussions will focus on PoSH compliance, workplace culture and safety in the unorganised sector. UN agencies and multilateral institutions will share global best practices during the international session.

During the programme, the Ministry will launch the SHe-Box logo, a nationwide PoSH training video and new IEC materials. Authorities will also provide access to PoSH training content available on Karamyogi Bharat for citizens.

The conference will include the release of a voluntary PoSH compliance checklist to encourage safe workplace practices. Organisers expect around 1,500 participants from more than 100 government and private organisations. Moreover, the event will be webcast to enable wider participation.

Through the SHe-Box conference, the Ministry aims to promote awareness of PoSH rights, enhance compliance and increase adoption of the portal nationwide.
