Azharuddin seeks probe into Banswada communal violence

Hyderabad: Banswada communal violence came under review as Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Azharuddin held a meeting with MIM MLAs and MLCs at the Secretariat and called for a thorough and impartial investigation.

The meeting focused on recent clashes between two religious groups in Banswada that led to minor vandalism and tension. Certain right-wing organisations later called for a bandh on Saturday, which authorities observed amid heavy police deployment.

MLAs Mohammad Mubeen, Mir Zulfeqar Ali, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and Kausar Mohiuddin attended the meeting. MLCs Mirza Rahmat Baig and Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hasan Effendi also took part in the discussions. They expressed serious concern over the Banswada communal violence and its impact on local residents.

The representatives informed the Minister that police arrested eight Muslims in connection with the incident. They requested a fair and impartial review of the cases and urged authorities not to harass innocent individuals. Moreover, they appealed for release of those found not involved after proper legal examination.

Banswada communal violence raises compensation, mosque concerns

During the meeting, leaders alleged that miscreants looted and damaged Muslim-owned shops during the unrest. They sought adequate compensation for affected traders and restoration of normalcy in the area.

The issue of the reported demolition of Masjid-e-Maulana also figured in the discussions. Leaders expressed concern over the development and asked for clarity on the circumstances. In response, the Minister assured that officials would examine the matter carefully and take action as per law.

Reacting to the Banswada communal violence, Azharuddin stressed that maintaining peace and protecting the rights and properties of all citizens remain the government’s priority. He demanded strict action against those responsible for disturbing communal harmony.

In addition, the meeting reviewed preparations for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The Minister directed concerned officials to ensure smooth arrangements so that the community faces no inconvenience.

Azharuddin reiterated his commitment to safeguarding communal harmony, ensuring justice and extending support to families affected by the incident.
