Hyderabad: Telangana summer temperatures have risen one to two degrees Celsius above normal, and the Meteorological Department warned that the heat will intensify in the coming weeks.
Officials said summer conditions began from the second week of February this year. While southern districts recorded normal or slightly lower readings, northern and central parts reported above-normal temperatures.
The department cautioned that this season is likely to be hotter than usual. Experts noted that last winter witnessed a sharp fall in temperatures between November and February. Consequently, they expect higher peak readings and more hot days across the State.
Telangana summer temperatures may cross 40°C in early April
According to officials, temperatures will remain near normal for the next three days. However, they are expected to rise gradually after that period.
Light rains may occur in several areas during the second and third weeks of March. Despite this possibility, heat intensity will continue to build toward the end of the month.
The highest readings are likely in the combined districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad and Karimnagar. Officials said the temperature rise will accelerate by month-end. They added that maximum readings may cross 40 degrees Celsius in the first week of April. This season, temperatures could reach between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius.
Heat wave conditions are expected to have a stronger impact in Bhupalpalli, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts. In addition, such spells may persist for longer durations this summer.
The India Meteorological Department also indicated that shifting weather patterns could trigger occasional extreme cold spells. Nevertheless, authorities advised residents to prepare for prolonged heat conditions in the coming months.
