Phule statues inauguration preparations reviewed by ministers

Hyderabad: Ministers reviewed preparations for the Phule statues inauguration scheduled for April 11 in Hyderabad, where Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will unveil the statues.

Ponnam Prabhakar and Konda Surekha inspected the construction work at Lake View Park near Tank Bund. The statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule are nearing completion at the site.

Later, the ministers held a meeting with officials to assess readiness. They directed authorities to complete installation work at least two days before the event.

Officials were instructed to ensure proper arrangements at the venue. Moreover, the ministers stressed that visitors should not face inconvenience during the programme.

Ponnam Prabhakar said the project cost is around Rs. 4 crore. He confirmed that the Chief Minister will formally conduct the Phule statues inauguration on April 11.

He added that such statues inspire people by highlighting the contributions of social reformers. While Savitribai Phule advanced women’s education, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule worked for social justice.

Coordination key for smooth event

The minister directed HMDA, GHMC and the district administration to coordinate closely. Therefore, he said effective coordination would ensure smooth execution of the programme.

During the review, leaders also discussed a proposal to name the route as ‘Phule Marg’. The suggestion will be placed before the Chief Minister for consideration.

Several public representatives and officials attended the meeting. Overall, the review highlighted the government’s focus on completing all arrangements on time.
