Hyderabad: Almas Khan on Friday criticised Tejasvi Surya over Surya Parliament comments, sparking a fresh political row in Telangana.

Surya Parliament comments draw sharp reaction
According to Khan, Telangana was formed through a constitutional process under Article 3. He said the movement reflected years of democratic struggle and sacrifice by the people.
Furthermore, he stated that such comparisons distort historical facts. He added that they undermine the contributions of those involved in the statehood movement.
Khan also criticised the response given by the BJP MP. He described it as insufficient and said it failed to address public concerns. In addition, he alleged that repeated controversial remarks create avoidable tensions.
He urged authorities to remove the statements from parliamentary records. At the same time, he demanded an unconditional apology from Tejasvi Surya.
Moreover, Khan emphasised the need for responsibility in public discourse. He said elected representatives must be mindful while speaking on sensitive issues.
He also called for appropriate action to uphold parliamentary standards. According to him, accountability is essential to maintain trust in democratic institutions.
Meanwhile, he expressed support for the State leadership under A. Revanth Reddy. He said Telangana would remain united in protecting its identity and history.
The controversy has drawn reactions from multiple political leaders. Therefore, it continues to remain a key issue in the State’s political landscape.
