Hyderabad: Congress leaders emphasised the importance of booth-level organisation and voter list management during a Congress BLA training and review meeting held in Kamareddy on Sunday. Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Zaheerabad MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar and TPCC spokesperson and BLA Master Trainer Meneni Rohith Rao guided party workers and booth-level agents on strengthening grassroots networks ahead of future elections.
The meeting took place at the Congress constituency office in Kamareddy. District Congress Committee president Ele Mallikarjun and several party leaders also attended the programme.
Shabbir Ali said Booth Level Agents (BLAs) form the strongest foundation of the party. He stated that BLAs play a critical role in maintaining voter lists and identifying errors. He urged every BLA to maintain complete knowledge of voters in their respective areas and ensure timely corrections wherever necessary.
He said BLAs should stay connected with people throughout the year. He also asked them to take government welfare schemes to the grassroots level. According to him, a strong booth-level structure would be the party’s main strength in future elections.
Congress BLA training stresses voter list monitoring
Suresh Kumar Shetkar said election success depends heavily on effective booth-level management. He urged BLAs to focus on the registration of new voters, deletion of deceased voters and correction of address details.
Furthermore, he said BLAs play a key role in taking the party’s ideology to villages, colonies and wards. He called for stronger booth committees and greater involvement in resolving public issues.
Meneni Rohith Rao conducted a detailed session on the duties and responsibilities of BLAs. He explained Election Commission guidelines, voter list revision procedures and the use of digital tools in electoral management.
He asked BLAs to maintain regular contact with every family in their booth areas. In addition, he urged them to identify eligible new voters and ensure that all qualified citizens are included in the voter list. He said BLAs must remain active throughout the year rather than only during election periods.
The leaders said BLAs play an important role in voter outreach, voter list protection, party campaign activities, issue identification and election management. They added that a strong booth-level network would help strengthen the Congress organisation across the constituency.
Several senior leaders, councillors, block presidents, mandal presidents, cell leaders, sarpanches, former councillors, booth representatives and party workers participated in the meeting.
