Hyderabad: MBT spokesman Amjed Ullah Khan challenged the Moharrum budget claim made by Telangana Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin. He demanded official proof of increased allocations for Moharrum-2026.
The Minister made the statement after visiting Bibi Ka Alawa and paying tributes to Bibi Ka Alam. AIMIM legislators and Minority Welfare Department officials accompanied him. He told reporters that the State government had increased the Moharrum budget this year.
Amjed Ullah Khan asked the government to release the relevant Government Orders. He said this was the third Moharrum since the Congress government took office. He also alleged that several works approved during Moharrum-2024 and Moharrum-2025 remain incomplete.
Khan challenged the government to identify a single road repaired specifically for Moharrum-2026. He alleged that preparations remain inadequate despite official claims.
Moharrum budget claim raises questions over preparations
The MBT leader described the Minister’s visit as a flop show. He pointed to the absence of senior officials from key departments. He said officials from the Telangana State Wakf Board, GHMC, TGSPDCL and the Police Department did not attend the visit.
Khan alleged that the government delayed comprehensive Moharrum arrangements meetings for three consecutive years. He claimed officials usually convened such meetings only days before Moharrum. In contrast, he said authorities begin preparations for other major festivals months in advance.
He also claimed that neither Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy nor Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi visited Bibi Ka Alam during the past three years. In addition, he raised concerns about potholes, garbage, sanitation issues and frequent power cuts along procession routes.
Khan urged the government to hold a high-level review meeting under the Chief Minister’s chairmanship. He also demanded the release of Moharrum budget details. Furthermore, he called for urgent road repairs, better sanitation, improved street lighting and uninterrupted power supply before Moharrum-2026.
