Aadhaar App downloads cross 31 million in under five months

New Delhi: Aadhaar App downloads crossed 31 million within five months of launch, reflecting strong public adoption of digital identity services across India.

The platform has simplified access to important services by allowing users to update details directly from their smartphones. Nearly 4 million residents have updated their mobile numbers through the service. Around 8.5 lakh users have also completed address updates.

The application follows a privacy-first approach and enables Aadhaar Number Holders to show, share and verify their identity securely. As a result, more residents now access services without visiting physical centres.

Aadhaar App expands digital service access

The platform offers several user-friendly features. These include biometric lock and unlock options, face verification, authentication history and a QR-based editable contact card. Users can also download e-Aadhaar and book appointments online for Aadhaar Seva Kendras.

Moreover, the service supports several daily use cases. It helps with hotel check-ins through QR-based verification. It also assists hospital admissions, visitor management, event entry verification and identity checks for gig workers and service partners.

The government said the initiative improves ease of living by bringing key identity services to mobile devices. Furthermore, growing adoption reflects rising confidence in digital governance tools.

The service is available on Android and iOS platforms and continues to provide secure access to identity-related facilities.
