AIIMS Rajkot convocation addressed by President Droupadi Murmu

Rajkot: President Droupadi Murmu addressed the AIIMS Rajkot convocation on Monday and urged graduating students to uphold trust, ethics and compassion in medical practice.

She marked the event as a milestone as the institute graduated its first batch of students. She said the graduates would shape the institution’s reputation as its first representatives. She also called them “brand ambassadors” of AIIMS Rajkot.

Moreover, the President said medicine was a service to humanity and not just a profession. She stressed that doctors must combine knowledge with sensitivity, patience and humility. She added that the white coat symbolised public trust during illness.

She highlighted that AIIMS institutions play a key role in providing affordable and advanced healthcare. She noted that their graduates were contributing to healthcare leadership in India and abroad.

She also pointed to the need for strong governance and transparency to guide the young institute. In addition, she said institutions must work with a clear long-term vision.

AIIMS Rajkot convocation highlights regional health priorities

The President emphasised that the AIIMS Rajkot convocation must also focus on regional health challenges. She cited maternal and child health issues and genetic disorders such as sickle cell anaemia.

She noted that new technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics and digital health were transforming healthcare. However, she said human compassion could never be replaced. She urged students to adopt innovation without losing the human touch.

She also underlined the importance of ethical values in medicine. She said integrity and altruism were as important as clinical skills.

Furthermore, she linked healthcare to India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. She said accessible and quality healthcare remained a key pillar of this vision.

The President expressed confidence that AIIMS Rajkot would advance equitable healthcare and set new standards in medical education. She concluded by asking graduates to serve with dedication and lead with integrity.
