Hyderabad: AIMIM registered significant gains in the ongoing Telangana municipal corporation elections, recording several AIMIM ward wins across districts as of 2 pm on February 13.
Abdul Mubeen won Ward No. 3 in Kaghaznagar. In Sangareddy, Aijaz secured Ward No. 5 for the party.
In Zaheerabad, the party captured two seats. Sunamma won Ward No. 8, a Dalit reserved seat, while Mohd. Rafi secured Ward No. 14. Likewise, in Jagital, the party won Ward Nos. 31 and 34 and continued to lead in two additional wards.
Farah Naaz, wife of Laiq Ali, won Ward No. 17 in Baswada on the party ticket. Shabbir Hussain also secured Ward No. 4 in Vikarabad. In Nirmal, Mujahid Ali captured Ward No. 29.
Mohammed Taqui Chand won Ward No. 23 in Narayanpet. Sana Afreen secured Ward No. 9 in Kodangal. Rafi, who serves as President of Kohir, won Ward No. 8 in the town.
Strong performance in Bodhan and Bhainsa
In Bhainsa, the party won eight wards so far. Independents, including BJP rebels, secured six wards there. However, Bodhan witnessed the most decisive outcome.
The party won 12 wards in Bodhan. The winners included Rafeeq (Ward 3), Sameer (Ward 5), Aqeel (Ward 7), Rafi (Ward 8), Aleem (Ward 12), Mir Ilyas Ali (Ward 18), Ansari Kahm (Ward 27), Mujahid Babar (Ward 28), Wali (Ward 30), Altaf (Ward 31), Waseem Sultana (Ward 32) and Khaikhashah Kauasar (Ward 38).
In Nalgonda, the party secured two seats. Rafi Uddin, Town President, won Ward No. 46, while Nadeem captured Ward No. 29.
Overall, AIMIM ward wins highlighted the party’s expanding footprint across several municipalities as counting progressed.
