New Delhi: Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah will inaugurate the NDDB nutrition conclave in New Delhi on January 6, marking a major push towards nutrition security through cooperation.
The CSR conclave, titled “Role of Corporate Social Responsibility in Nutrition Security and Malnutrition Mitigation”, will take place at Vigyan Bhawan. Moreover, the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’.
The conclave aims to link the cooperative movement with public welfare and social development. Therefore, it will focus on corporate–cooperative partnerships to address child malnutrition.
Union Ministers Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and Smt Annapurna Devi will attend the programme. In addition, Ministers of State Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Shri Murlidhar Mohol, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, and Shri George Kurian will be present.
Senior officials, including Cooperation Secretary Dr Ashish Kumar Bhutani and NDDB Chairman Dr Meenesh Shah, will also attend. The event will bring together policymakers, cooperatives, and corporate leaders.
NDDB nutrition conclave to launch Giftmilk and Shishu Sanjeevani
During the NDDB nutrition conclave, Shri Amit Shah will launch the third phase of the Giftmilk programme. The initiative comes under the CSR programme of SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh.
Under this phase, the programme will benefit around 4,000 children studying in government schools. Moreover, children in mining areas will receive flavoured milk fortified with Vitamins A and D.
The Chhattisgarh Milk Federation, managed by NDDB, will supply the fortified milk. Consequently, the programme aims to improve nutrition among vulnerable schoolchildren.
Shri Amit Shah will also launch the Shishu Sanjeevani programme under IDBI Bank’s CSR initiative. The programme will support around 3,000 children at anganwadi centres in rural Nagpur district.
NDDB developed Shishu Sanjeevani as an energy-dense, ready-to-eat fortified supplement. Meanwhile, the Bhandara Milk Union in Maharashtra will manufacture the product.
The national conclave will provide a shared platform for Union ministries, PSUs, private companies, dairy cooperatives, scientists, and beneficiary institutions. Therefore, it will encourage collaborative and sustainable strategies to tackle malnutrition.
Following the inaugural session, the conclave will host technical discussions on public nutrition interventions and corporate–cooperative collaboration. Officials said around 1,200 participants from across the country would attend.
