Annaram barrage sand mining triggers demand for criminal probe

KTR said rules prohibit sand mining near barrage structures. Therefore, he urged authorities to register criminal cases against those involved and order a comprehensive investigation.

He alleged that the Congress government was attempting to undermine the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. Moreover, he claimed that illegal extraction near the barrage pillars endangered the structure and reflected a deliberate conspiracy.

The BRS leader further accused Congress leaders of shielding a sand mafia operating in broad daylight at the site. In addition, he alleged that Telangana’s resources were being exploited for political and financial gain.

Warning of consequences, KTR said the ruling party would bear full responsibility if any damage occurred to the Kaleshwaram barrages. He also cautioned that the public would hold the government accountable.
