Bandi Bhagirath sent to judicial remand in POCSO case

Hyderabad: Bandi Bhagirath remand proceedings concluded after the Nampally court sent the POCSO accused to judicial custody following completion of police interrogation in the case involving a minor girl.

Police produced Bandi Bhagirath before the Nampally court on Wednesday after the custody period granted earlier came to an end.

After hearing the matter, the court remanded the accused to judicial custody. Later, police shifted him to Cherlapally Central Prison under tight security arrangements.

The case relates to allegations of sexual assault on a minor girl and triggered widespread attention across the Telugu states.

Earlier, investigators secured police custody of the accused to gather evidence and question him about several aspects linked to the case.

Officials reportedly collected important details and material evidence during the custody period.

Bandi Bhagirath remand follows digital evidence probe

On the first day of custody, investigators shifted the accused from Cherlapally prison to Medchal Government Hospital for medical examinations.

Later, police took him to Aranya Farmhouse in Moinabad and conducted a scene reconstruction exercise to verify the alleged sequence of events.

On the second day, investigators questioned him at a service apartment in Gachibowli.

Police confronted the accused with digital evidence linked to alleged conversations with the victim through Instagram, WhatsApp and Snapchat.

Investigators also recorded his statement during the questioning process.

Earlier, officials recorded statements from the victim, her mother and friends of the accused who had reportedly visited the farmhouse.

Police also examined CCTV footage, call data records and audio recordings submitted by the victim’s mother.

Investigators questioned the accused about those materials and documented his responses as part of the continuing investigation.

Officials stated that further investigation in the case would continue even after the judicial remand.
