Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar urged voters to hand over the Vemulawada municipality to the BJP ahead of the Vemulawada municipal polls, promising Central funds and comprehensive development if the party came to power.
Campaigning in the run-up to the Vemulawada municipal polls, Sanjay accused the Congress-led Telangana government of neglecting the town. He said the State had failed to allocate any development funds to Vemulawada during the last two years. He also alleged that the State’s financial position was worsening due to unfulfilled promises.
The BJP leader also targeted the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. He asked voters what justification remained for supporting the party after 10 years of what he described as public exploitation.
As part of his campaign outreach, Sanjay addressed street-corner meetings at Nampally, Tippapur, Anjani Nagar and Mahankali Chowrasta in Vemulawada.
Vemulawada municipal polls: Bandi Sanjay alleges threats to BJP workers
Raising concerns over the political climate during the Vemulawada municipal polls, Sanjay accused the sitting Vemulawada MLA of threatening BJP leaders. He alleged that the MLA acted unilaterally and claimed that local police were siding with him instead of enforcing the law.
Sanjay warned that he would take the issue to the Director General of Police and the district Superintendent of Police if the situation continued. He said intimidation of political workers would not be tolerated.
Several BJP leaders accompanied Sanjay during the campaign. These included former minister Inugala Peddireddy, BJP Sircilla in-charge Meesala Chandraiah, district president Reddaboina Gopi, former district president Pratapa Ramakrishna and State leader Chennamaneni Vikas Rao.
