Bengaluru: Prominent Bengaluru real estate developer and Confident Group founder Caesar Roy died by suicide at his Richmond Town residence while Income Tax officials carried out a raid, police said.
Senior police officers said Roy took the extreme step during the search operation at his home. Soon after the incident, police registered a case and launched an investigation to establish the sequence of events.
Income Tax teams had reached the residence as part of official proceedings, police said. During the operation, officers found Roy inside the house. Police alerted senior officials and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
Police teams secured the premises and began collecting evidence. They also informed family members and recorded initial statements from officials present during the raid.
The incident sent shockwaves through Bengaluru’s business and real estate circles. Roy was a well-known figure in the city’s property sector and had built the Confident Group into a recognised brand over the years.
