Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) senior leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Friday condemned the Purana Pul incident and accused the Congress government of failing to prevent repeated communal disturbances in Telangana.
Addressing the issue, Abdullah Sohail said the incident exposed serious lapses in law and order. He alleged that communal incidents have become frequent since the Congress assumed power in December 2023. According to him, the state has witnessed one or another disturbance almost every week, raising concern among citizens.
He said such incidents were instilling fear among people and harming Telangana’s reputation as a peaceful and progressive state. Moreover, he questioned the Congress government’s claims of good governance and said its inability to curb tensions reflected weak administration.

Abdullah Sohail said Telangana remained largely peaceful during the previous BRS government. He claimed firm policing and preventive measures ensured sensitive areas did not slip into unrest. In contrast, he alleged that the present government’s lax approach allowed troublemakers to act with impunity.
The BRS leader demanded that the Congress government take responsibility for the deteriorating situation. He called for strengthening preventive policing in sensitive localities and urged authorities to act impartially.
He also appealed to the people of Hyderabad and Telangana to stay calm and united. He warned against allowing political or communal forces to disturb the social fabric of the state.
