Cabinet sub-committee to meet employees and teachers unions on September 2

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has scheduled a crucial meeting of its cabinet sub-committee with employees and teachers unions on September 2. The meeting aims to address long-pending service-related issues. It comes just before the state assembly session on August 30 and ahead of district-level bus yatras planned by employees’ associations from September 8.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who heads the sub-committee, will preside over the talks. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar will join him. Senior IAS officers Lokesh Kumar, Krishna Bhaskar, Mahesh Dutt Ekka, Sandeep Kumar Sultania and Raghunandan Rao will also attend.

Unions to present service and pay-related demands

The sub-committee has invited leaders of the Telangana Employees and Teachers Joint Action Committee (JAC). Chairman Maram Jagadishwar and general secretary Eluri Srinivas Rao will represent the JAC. The agenda includes service rules, pay revisions, transfers and job regularisation. These demands have been raised repeatedly by unions.

The government wants to ease tensions with employees through dialogue. Unions continue to press for quick resolution of their issues and have warned of protests if talks fail. Observers believe the outcome of the September 2 meeting will be closely watched, as employee associations represent a large part of the state workforce.

The meeting may also set the stage for broader negotiations between the government and unions. With the assembly session underway and unions preparing for campaigns, both sides face pressure to find common ground.
