Congress government resolves Qabristan land allotment under Azharuddin’s leadership

Hyderabad: The Congress government resolved the long-pending Qabristan land allotment issue in Jubilee Hills during a high-level review meeting at the Telangana State Secretariat on Monday, reinforcing its stand on minority welfare and protection of government lands.

Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin led the meeting and pressed officials to address burial ground shortages faced by minority communities in Erragadda, Borabanda, and Shaikpet. Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav, and TMREIS Vice-Chairman Faheem Quraishi joined the discussions along with senior officials and Qabristan Committee representatives.

Azharuddin outlined the hardships minority families had faced for decades due to the absence of designated burial grounds. He urged departments to act decisively and resolve the issue without further delay.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated that government lands belonged to the public and warned officials against negligence. He directed departments to safeguard such lands, especially those earmarked for welfare and minority use.

To fast-track the Qabristan land allotment, the Minister instructed the Revenue Department to coordinate with the Defence Department and the Waqf Board. He said officials would transfer Revenue land to the Defence Department where required and obtain alternative land for allotment to the Waqf Board.

Officials recalled that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had assured completion of the allotment before December 31. The government fulfilled that assurance through coordinated administrative action.

Qabristan Committee members from Erragadda, Borabanda, and Shaikpet placed their representations before the Ministers. The government addressed each concern during the meeting and issued clear timelines for completing formalities.

Qabristan land allotment tied to strict protection of government lands

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy warned that the government would act firmly against encroachments on public land. He ordered officials to identify illegal occupations, issue notices, and reclaim lands meant for welfare and development.

The Minister instructed District Collectors to resolve land disputes strictly under the law. He said the Congress government would not compromise on protecting government assets.

Following the directions, senior officials began coordinating to complete procedural steps without delay. Officials said the decision brought long-awaited relief to residents of the affected localities.

Representatives of the Qabristan Committees thanked Mohammed Azharuddin for sustained follow-up and strong advocacy. They said his leadership played a decisive role in achieving resolution.

Azharuddin thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for his support and said the Congress government would continue to address genuine minority issues. He added that the government treated minority welfare as an action-oriented priority.

The meeting also saw the participation of Minorities Welfare Department Secretary B. Shafeeullah and the District Collectors of Hyderabad and Medchal.
