Hyderabad: The Congress party on Wednesday announced a Hyderabad DCC revamp, unveiling a new 45-member structure and launching an online application portal to strengthen its organisation in the city.
Speaking to the media, Hyderabad DCC President Syed Khalid Saifullah said the party had strong public support in the city. However, he said the organisation lacked sustained grassroots strength in the past.
Therefore, the Congress decided to focus fully on rebuilding its local structure. He said the party wanted a committed, dynamic team aligned with Congress ideology and values.
As part of a nationwide organisational drive, the revamped DCC will cover all five Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad. These include Bahadurpura, Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Malakpet and Yakutpura. Additionally, the structure will extend across 10 Blocks.
Under the Hyderabad DCC revamp, the committee will have one treasurer, five spokespersons and 10 vice-presidents. It will also include five general secretaries, nine secretaries and 15 executive committee members.
Moreover, the party will appoint 44 division presidents. These appointments aim to ensure active functioning in every division of the district. As a result, Congress activities are expected to gain momentum across Hyderabad.
Hyderabad DCC revamp to emphasise inclusion and merit
To ensure transparency, the Congress launched an online application portal for interested candidates. The portal will remain open until January 4. Party members have been encouraged to apply and share the link widely.
Meanwhile, Saifullah said the selection process would remain merit-based. He said dedication, integrity and long-term commitment would guide appointments.
At the same time, AICC observers Mohammad Javeed and Subramanyam stressed inclusive representation. They called for adequate participation of women, youth, SC, ST, BC and minority communities.
Importantly, the observers recommended that women should receive 20 to 25 per cent representation in the new DCC. Party leaders said this step would strengthen internal democracy.
Overall, the Hyderabad DCC revamp and digital outreach reflect the Congress’s effort to revive its urban presence. Leaders said the party aimed to rebuild its cadre base through structured and grassroots engagement.
