Hyderabad: The Congress party opened the IS Sadan Division office on Friday to strengthen its organisational presence in the Old City ahead of the GHMC polls.
Hyderabad District Congress Committee president Syed Khalid Saifullah inaugurated the IS Sadan Division office. He said the step marked a renewed push to rebuild the party’s grassroots network in areas that had remained neglected for years.
Yakutpura Assembly constituency in-charge K Ravi Raj attended the programme. Senior leaders Bheem Arjun Reddy, Kotla Srinivas and Krishna Kumar were also present during the inauguration.
Khalid Saifullah told party workers that the new office marked the first phase of a wider organisational revival. He said the Congress planned to open similar offices in all 44 wards under the Hyderabad DCC.

He said the initiative formed part of a structured revamp at the grassroots level. Through this, the party aimed to reconnect with residents and identify local civic issues. He added that the Congress also wanted to ensure stronger representation in governance.
The Hyderabad DCC has stepped up preparations for the GHMC polls. Khalid Saifullah said the party received a strong response to its online application process for party posts, which closed on January 4. According to him, the response reflected growing interest under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership.
He said the party would soon hold a strategy meeting to finalise ward-level preparations. He added that welfare schemes introduced by the Congress government had started delivering visible benefits in the Old City.
Khalid Saifullah said more than 70% of residents were benefiting from schemes such as free bus travel for women, new ration cards and free fine rice distribution. He also cited the decision to fast-track the Old City Metro Rail project as a confidence booster for residents.
He said the opening of the IS Sadan Division office reflected the Congress party’s long-term commitment to Hyderabad and its people.
