Congress will win Kamareddy municipality, says Shabbir Ali

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and government adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Wednesday declared that the party would hoist its flag over Kamareddy Municipality in the upcoming Kamareddy municipal polls.

Addressing a strategy meeting in Kamareddy, Shabbir Ali said the Congress was fully prepared for the civic elections. He expressed confidence that voters would support the party’s promise of people-first governance.

The meeting was held at Kings Convention Hall on Siricilla Road. It brought together senior leaders, candidates and party workers from all 49 wards. During the session, Shabbir Ali released the party’s local manifesto and offered tactical guidance.

According to him, the campaign would focus on civic infrastructure, transparency and accountability. At the same time, he urged leaders to remain closely connected with residents and local concerns.

Criticising his rivals, Shabbir Ali accused the sitting MLA and opposition leaders of remaining absent from public life for the last two years. However, he said they resurfaced only as elections approached in Kamareddy municipal polls.

He demanded clarity on the alleged transfer of government college land to a private party. Additionally, he sought accountability over allegations linked to the sale of a Congress MLC ticket.

Meanwhile, the Congress manifesto promised major civic upgrades. These included wider internal roads, an underground drainage system and household water supply under Mission Bhagiratha. It also pledged improved facilities in government hospitals.

Further, the party promised to upgrade public schools into ‘Amma Model Schools’ to raise education standards. Shabbir Ali also highlighted welfare schemes such as Indiramma Housing and the Mahalakshmi scheme, which provides free bus travel and LPG subsidies.

To strengthen outreach, he urged candidates to campaign door-to-door and identify ward-level issues. Calling for unity, he said the party aimed to win all 49 wards. “The people of Kamareddy have suffered a decade of neglect,” he said, adding that Congress was ready to deliver inclusive development.

Former Kamareddy DCC president Kailas Srinivas Rao, general secretaries Indrakaran Reddy and Gaddam Chandrasekhar Reddy, Library Chairman Chandrakant Reddy and town Congress president Pandla Raju attended the meeting, along with several mandal-level leaders.
