Hyderabad: CPI leader K. Narayana has announced that his party would work toward building a broad anti-BJP front at its upcoming CPI national convention in Chandigarh starting September 22.
Narayana accused the BJP-led central government of capturing key constitutional institutions while delivering his remarks in Hyderabad. He claimed that only India’s judiciary remained committed to protecting democratic principles.
The CPI leader characterised the judiciary as “fighting like Abhimanyu” to defend democratic values. Meanwhile, he alleged that the President, Election Commission, Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate, and state governors operated under the Centre’s direct control.
“Judiciary alone is striving to protect justice. The rest have been captured,” Narayana stated during his address.
He criticised appointed Governors for undermining elected state governments, particularly those outside what the BJP calls its “double engine states.” According to Narayana, governors actively attacked non-BJP state administrations despite court directives to respect elected regimes.
CPI anti-BJP front discussions target constitutional crisis prevention
Narayana warned that India’s constitutional framework faced an internal crisis requiring immediate action. He emphasised that all anti-BJP forces must unite to prevent institutional collapse.
“To prevent that collapse, all anti-BJP forces must unite. CPI is in talks on this front,” the party leader explained.
The CPI leader specifically mentioned that governors dismissed court orders asking for respect toward elected governments. He further alleged that both the Centre and the President ignored judicial guidance on this matter. He said these issues would be discused in the CPI National Convention in Chandigarh.
