Hyderabad: BRS leader Dr. Dasoju Sravan strongly criticised TDP MPs over their Telangana remarks in the Lok Sabha and accused them of insulting the state’s identity and history.
He alleged that Andhra Pradesh MPs used the Parliament platform to demean Telangana even 12 years after its formation. Sravan also criticised the panel speaker for allowing the comments to continue during the discussion.
According to the BRS leader, the remarks hurt the sentiments of people who participated in the Telangana movement. He said the sacrifices made during the struggle for statehood should not be trivialised.
Sravan also accused TDP leaders of repeatedly raising the issue of bifurcation instead of focusing on development in Andhra Pradesh. He said leaders should concentrate on governance rather than revisiting old political disputes.
Dasoju Sravan challenges TDP leaders to debate
The BRS leader questioned whether the statements made in Parliament reflected the official stand of the Telugu Desam Party. He demanded clarification from the party leadership regarding the remarks.
He also challenged TDP leaders to an open debate in Parliament on issues related to the Telangana movement and the political developments that preceded statehood.
Sravan further raised concerns about alleged diversion of Krishna river waters and urged leaders to discuss such issues through constructive dialogue.
At the same time, he criticised the silence of some Telangana MPs in Parliament during the controversy. He said elected representatives should defend the dignity of the state when such issues arise.
The BRS leader warned that attempts to create regional hostility between the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh would not benefit either state. Instead, he called for maintaining mutual respect and focusing on development.
