New Delhi: Defence exports surged to a record Rs 38,424 crore in FY 2025-26, marking a 62.66% rise over the previous fiscal, with Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh hailing the achievement.
He said India was moving steadily towards becoming a global defence manufacturing hub. In a post, he credited the growth to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The latest figures showed an increase of Rs 14,802 crore compared to Rs 23,622 crore recorded in the previous financial year. Therefore, the performance marked the highest-ever export value for the sector.
Defence Public Sector Undertakings contributed 54.84% of total exports. Meanwhile, the private sector accounted for 45.16%, reflecting balanced participation across the industry.
He praised the Department of Defence Production, exporters and stakeholders for driving the growth. In addition, he said the country was scripting an impressive defence exports success story.
Defence exports growth driven by public and private sectors
DPSUs recorded a sharp rise of 151% in exports during the year. At the same time, the private sector reported a 14% increase, indicating sustained expansion.
The government has focused on boosting domestic manufacturing and export capabilities. As a result, India has strengthened its position in the global defence market.
Officials said the growth aligned with the broader vision of making India one of the world’s leading defence exporters. Moreover, policy support and industry participation have accelerated this trend.
The milestone highlighted the increasing competitiveness of Indian defence products. It also underlined the sector’s role in economic growth and strategic capability.
