DRDO–France agreement strengthens defence cooperation

Hyderabad: A new milestone in bilateral defence cooperation was reached as a Technical Agreement was signed between the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA), France. The DRDO–France agreement was formalised at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi, on November 20, 2025, by DRDO Chairman and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, and Lt. Gen. Gael Diaz de Tuesta, National Armaments Director of DGA France.

The agreement is designed to harness the combined strengths, experience, and technological capabilities of both nations to address emerging defence challenges. It establishes a structured framework for joint initiatives, including collaborative research, specialised training programs, testing activities, and exchange of technical information. The partnership also supports the organisation of workshops, seminars, and expert interactions aimed at enhancing knowledge and skill development in defence R&D.

DRDO–France agreement boosts innovation across multiple advanced domains

Under the provisions of this agreement, both countries will benefit from mutual access to equipment, know-how, and advanced technologies. Key areas of cooperation identified include aeronautical platforms, unmanned systems, advanced materials, cyber security, artificial intelligence, space technologies, navigation, propulsion systems, sensors, quantum technologies, and underwater capabilities. Additional areas of mutual interest may also be explored as the collaboration progresses.

Leaders from both sides expressed strong confidence that this enhanced cooperation will significantly contribute to national security goals while supporting broader advances in global defence technology. The agreement marks a major step forward in strengthening India–France strategic defence ties.
