DRDO Clears 12 Projects as Indigenous Technologies Progress

Hyderabad: In a major push for indigenous defence capability, DRDO handed over seven technologies developed under the Technology Development Fund scheme to the three Services. Indian industry created these systems with support from DRDO experts and Tri-services teams. The effort aligns with national goals of import substitution and critical technology development.

The technologies cover a wide range of applications. They include airborne jammer power systems, naval and underwater systems, and new energy-related solutions. The list features a tide-efficient gangway, an advanced switching matrix system, VLF loop aerials, a waterjet propulsion system, a lithium-precursor recovery process and a long-life seawater battery for underwater surveillance.

DRDO enhances strategic capability by approving 12 advanced technology projects

At the Empowered Committee meeting on December 2, 2025, held at DRDO Bhawan and chaired by Dr Samir V. Kamat, officials reviewed several project proposals. The committee approved 12 new projects in strategic, aerospace, naval and electronic warfare domains. This decision further strengthens the push for domestic capability-building.

During the meeting, officials discussed approval processes under the TDF scheme. They also stressed the need to expedite end-to-end project handling. In addition, the committee examined technology roadmaps already in progress and called for smoother acquisition pathways to support timely induction.

Dr Kamat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to faster defence innovation under Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He noted that DRDO will continue strengthening the execution framework of the TDF scheme to achieve this goal.
