Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar led the review. Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi joined him. The visit spans February 17 and 18.

On the first day, the Commission met recognised national and state political parties. Each party presented its concerns and suggestions. The discussions focused on strengthening Assam poll preparedness.

The parties included Aam Aadmi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress, All India United Democratic Front, Asom Gana Parishad, United People’s Party Liberal and Bodoland People’s Front.

Most parties asked the Commission to hold elections in a single phase. Some suggested limiting it to two phases. They also urged the Commission to consider the Bihu festival while fixing poll dates.

Several parties appreciated the Special Revision of Electoral Rolls in the state. They also suggested steps to ensure peaceful elections.

After meeting the parties, the Commission reviewed arrangements with IGs, DIGs, District Election Officers and Senior Superintendents of Police.
