Hyderabad: Continuous heavy rains battered Kamareddy and Medak districts, paralysing normal life as overflowing streams and project backwaters cut off several villages. In Nagireddypet mandal of Kamareddy, a group of youth and children travelling to Haveli Ghanpur to buy Ganesh idols were stranded after Nakkavagu overflowed, disrupting road connectivity.
As they attempted to return, the collapse of a bridge near Pocharam project due to floodwaters forced them to take shelter in Pochampally village. Residents said the group remained stuck for three days without access to food or essentials. Army authorities later stepped in to shift them back to their native places.

Meanwhile, a man named Sailu, who had gone to witness the heavy flow at Pocharam project, fainted and fell, requiring immediate medical attention. Army personnel stationed nearby administered first aid at their camp and stabilised him.
The floodwaters also disrupted road networks in both Kamareddy and Medak districts, halting transport and movement of goods. Several low-lying villages reported houses submerged and people marooned. Authorities said emergency teams were coordinating relief and rescue operations, but many areas remained inaccessible due to the intensity of the water flow.
Officials confirmed that the heavy rains and overflowing projects caused widespread distress, with residents appealing for more immediate relief measures including food, medical support and restoration of connectivity.
