Free cancer screening camp organised for ESI insured persons in Jeedimetla

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Department organised a free cancer screening camp for insured persons at the ESI Hospital in Jeedimetla under the guidance of Labour and Employment Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy.

The department conducted the camp in collaboration with Basavatarakam Cancer Institute to facilitate early detection and timely medical intervention. Officials said a total of 231 insured persons attended the cancer screening camp, including 154 women and 77 men.

Doctors conducted multiple diagnostic tests during the camp. These included X-ray, mammography, ultrasound sonography, Pap smear, and other relevant screening procedures. Six oncology specialists from Basavatarakam Cancer Institute and 10 doctors from the ESI Department supervised the screenings.

Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the services provided during the camp. Many insured persons also requested the authorities to organise similar cancer screening camps regularly across the State.

Officials said efforts were underway to enter into a formal agreement between the Telangana State ESI Department and Basavatarakam Cancer Institute. The proposed collaboration aims to organise free cancer screening camps for ESI insured persons across Telangana in the coming days.

The initiative forms part of the State’s efforts to strengthen preventive healthcare services for insured workers and their families.
