Free health check-up camps continue during Janaushadhi Saptah 2026

New Delhi: Free health check-up camps continued across the country on Day 4 of Janaushadhi Saptah 2026, with citizens participating despite Holi celebrations.

The Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, organised the camps as part of a nationwide outreach from 1st to 5th March 2026. The initiative precedes the 8th Janaushadhi Diwas on 7th March.

Doctors provided free medical consultations at the camps. Teams conducted on-site diagnostic tests, including blood pressure, blood sugar and thyroid screening. Pediatric care and consultations for chronic illnesses were also offered.

Officials distributed Janaushadhi medicines and Suvidha sanitary pads. In addition, organisers held awareness sessions on the benefits of affordable and quality generic medicines.

Nearly 250 locations nationwide are hosting such camps during the week-long programme. Essential services include free consultations, distribution of medicines and basic diagnostic tests.

Free health check-up camps held in multiple states on Day 4

On Day 4, camps were organised at Doddaballapur in Bangalore Rural, Mohol in Solapur, Nowhatta in Down Town Srinagar, Palnadu in Andhra Pradesh, Bengaluru Urban and Haveri in Karnataka. Citizens attended in large numbers across these locations.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana, the government provides quality generic medicines at affordable prices through more than 18,000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras nationwide. PMBI implements the scheme to ensure access to essential medicines at significantly lower prices than branded alternatives.

The government has set a target of establishing 25,000 Kendras by March 2027. Officials said the expansion aims to ensure that no citizen is deprived of essential medicines due to financial constraints.

Eligible entrepreneurs, pharmacists and doctors can apply online to open a Kendra. The scheme provides financial assistance and incentives to encourage wider participation and support sustainable livelihoods.
