Gaddam Vamsi raises Telangana injustice in Parliament

Hyderabad: Congress MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna raised the issue of Telangana injustice in Parliament, highlighting pending promises and development gaps.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, he said several commitments under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 remain unfulfilled. As a result, he alleged that Telangana continues to face neglect even years after its formation.

Telangana injustice concerns over water and infrastructure

Vamsi warned that Andhra Pradesh’s Banakacherla project could divert nearly 200 TMC of Krishna river water. Therefore, he said such a move could lead to drought conditions in North Telangana.

Moreover, he pointed to disparities in infrastructure development between the two states. He noted that Andhra Pradesh has multiple airports, while Telangana relies on a single facility. He also said the proposed Peddapalli airport project has not progressed.

In addition, he accused the Centre of unequal railway funding. According to him, Andhra Pradesh received larger allocations, whereas Telangana saw limited investment.

Telangana injustice debate highlights stalled projects

The MP also raised concerns over the Polavaram Project. He warned that backwaters could threaten regions such as Kothagudem and Bhadrachalam. Hence, he demanded immediate flood protection measures.

Furthermore, he said key industrial projects remain stalled. He cited the Bayyaram steel factory as an example and added that delays have affected industrial growth.

He also pointed out the absence of semiconductor projects and an industrial corridor in the state. Consequently, he argued that these gaps reflect continued neglect.

Concerns over agriculture and resources

Vamsi highlighted a fertiliser shortage at Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited. He said Telangana farmers are facing difficulties, unlike their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh.

He concluded by asserting that there would be no compromise on the state’s rights. Overall, he urged the government to address pending issues and ensure balanced development.
