New Delhi: Government e Marketplace has achieved a major milestone as GeM GMV reached ₹18.4 lakh crore, strengthening its role in public procurement.
The platform also crossed ₹5 lakh crore GMV during FY 2025–26. As a result, it continues to expand as a transparent and efficient digital procurement system.
GeM GMV growth reflects rising participation and trust
The GeM GMV milestone highlights growing trust among buyers, sellers and institutions. Moreover, the platform connects enterprises across regions with government demand, promoting inclusion and transparency.
CEO Mihir Kumar said the achievement reflects confidence in a technology-driven procurement ecosystem.
The platform has expanded access for Micro and Small Enterprises, startups and women-led businesses. Consequently, participation from diverse groups has increased significantly.
During FY 2025–26, MSEs executed 68% of total orders and contributed 47.1% of the total value. In addition, more than 11 lakh MSEs registered on the platform received over 51 lakh orders worth ₹2.36 lakh crore.
Women-led enterprises also recorded strong growth. They secured orders worth over ₹28,000 crore, showing a rise of around 28%. Similarly, SC/ST enterprises and startups reported steady increases in order value.
Technology and state participation drive expansion
Technology plays a key role in the platform’s operations. For instance, it uses AI and machine learning to improve transparency and efficiency.
Advanced analytics help detect unusual pricing patterns and bidding behaviour. Therefore, these tools strengthen trust and support better decision-making.
At the same time, participation from states and Union Territories is rising. Procurement by states grew by 38.3% during FY 2025–26.
This trend indicates wider adoption of the platform across regions. Furthermore, it reflects increasing confidence in a transparent and accountable procurement system.
