HAM road development programme to upgrade Telangana connectivity

Hyderabad: The HAM road programme will upgrade connectivity across Telangana within two years, and the State government is actively focusing on strengthening road infrastructure from villages to major cities. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the initiative will play a crucial role in improving transport networks.

The first phase covers 6,092.37 km with an outlay of ₹13,006 crore. Authorities divided the works into 34 packages, and they have already received tenders for 24 of them. Meanwhile, officials expect to finalise the remaining packages soon.

To speed up execution, the government introduced transparent systems and ensured timely contractor payments through a direct debit mechanism. As a result, project implementation is moving faster.

Project scale and execution

The government designed this initiative to build durable roads that can handle future traffic demand. It also plans to invest nearly ₹20,000 crore to provide blacktop roads to every village across the State.

Additionally, officials are developing single-lane, double-lane and four-lane roads based on traffic needs. This approach will create a balanced and efficient network.

Improving connectivity and growth

The HAM road programme will significantly improve connectivity between rural and urban areas. For instance, better roads will reduce travel time and improve access to markets and services.

Moreover, stronger road infrastructure will support agriculture, trade and logistics. It will also encourage economic activity across regions.

Overall, the government aims to modernise Telangana’s transport system through this initiative. Therefore, the programme will play a key role in long-term development and connectivity improvement.
