Hyderabad: BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao intensified Congress rule criticism, alleging that the Telangana government has failed to address the concerns of farmers and rural communities.
He made the remarks while addressing an extended meeting of party workers in the Choppadandi constituency of the undivided Karimnagar district.
Harish Rao said former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had become a symbol of development in Telangana.
However, he claimed the present administration led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had not resolved key public issues.
Therefore, he described the government’s functioning as destructive rather than developmental.
Congress rule criticism raised during BRS workers meeting
Several leaders and workers from the Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi during the programme. Former ministers Gangula Kamalakar and Koppula Eshwar attended the meeting.
MLC L. Ramana and MLA Sanjay Kumar also participated along with other senior party leaders. During his visit to villages such as Malkapur and Gopalraopalli, Harish Rao interacted with farmers. He said many farmers expressed concern about their agricultural conditions. According to him, several farmers stated that their situation had been better during the previous BRS government.
Harish Rao alleged that crops on nearly 500 acres were drying due to the failure to operate irrigation motors. He also claimed that authorities had not ensured adequate water supply for agricultural lands.
Furthermore, the BRS leader criticised delays in the implementation of the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He alleged that several welfare programmes introduced during the previous government were being weakened.
Harish Rao also criticised demolitions of houses belonging to poor families in the name of projects such as HYDRAA and the Musi River development plan. In addition, he claimed that welfare schemes for certain communities had slowed down.
According to him, sheep distribution for Golla and Kuruma communities had not progressed as expected. He also alleged that fish seed distribution for Mudiraj fishermen had not been implemented effectively.
Harish Rao challenged ruling party leaders to visit villages without police security if they believed people were satisfied with the government. Finally, he said farmers and citizens across Telangana were closely observing the government’s performance.
He added that people would deliver their judgement at the appropriate time.
