Hyderabad: Former minister Harish Rao on Friday issued a sharp Harish Rao counter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, questioning his failure to fulfil job promises made during the elections and challenging him to visit the Ashok Nagar Central Library to meet unemployed youth.
Harish Rao criticised the Chief Minister for attending a cinema theatre inauguration amid heavy police security while allegedly avoiding interaction with job aspirants. He asked whether Revanth Reddy had the courage to step into the Ashok Nagar library, located close to the theatre venue, and speak to unemployed candidates waiting for government jobs.
Recalling election assurances, Harish Rao said the Congress had promised two lakh jobs within a year. However, he alleged that the government failed to issue even basic recruitment notifications. He claimed the promised job calendar had turned into a “jobless calendar,” leaving thousands of aspirants disappointed.
Harish Rao counter escalated amid RTC Cross Road traffic chaos
The Harish Rao counter came amid severe traffic congestion at RTC Cross Road, where multiple events took place simultaneously. A movie-related event for the film Raja Saab and the inauguration of the Odeon commercial theatre by the Chief Minister led to massive security deployment in the area.
Police diverted traffic as roads became heavily congested, causing inconvenience to commuters. Citizens questioned the lack of advance traffic planning as Hyderabad Police deployed large forces for the political and film-related programmes. Public criticism mounted as motorists faced long delays in one of the city’s busiest junctions.
Harish Rao also questioned remarks made by Minister Sridhar Babu, who reportedly said it was not possible to provide government jobs to everyone. He alleged that the Congress government had misled unemployed youth during elections and later betrayed them after coming to power.
The former minister warned that avoiding the Ashok Nagar library would amount to cheating the unemployed. He demanded that the Chief Minister engage directly with job seekers instead of limiting public appearances to ceremonial events.
