Harish Rao demands withdrawal of Siddapur dump yard proposal

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao on Monday demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Siddapur dump yard proposed under GO No. 641. He alleged that the facility in Siddapur village of Kothur mandal would harm farmers and nearby villages.

Harish Rao met a delegation of farmers and local residents before addressing the media. He claimed the proposed 86-acre dump yard would contaminate water sources and damage agricultural land.

According to him, the project would affect Gutta Cheruvu and nearly 20 surrounding villages. In addition, he expressed concern over the site’s proximity to the Jahangir Peer Dargah.

Harish Rao also alleged that the previous BRS government had planned to establish an IT park on the same land. He claimed the Congress government had replaced a development project with a pollution-causing facility.

Furthermore, Harish Rao warned that the BRS would launch a large-scale agitation if the government did not withdraw GO No. 641. He urged the government to identify an alternative location away from residential areas and agricultural lands.

He maintained that the proposed project would threaten local livelihoods and the environment. Finally, he appealed to the government to reconsider the proposal and protect the interests of farmers and nearby residents.
