Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao alleged a Hyderabad decline under Revanth Reddy, accusing the Congress government of administrative failure and corruption over the past two years.
Addressing party leaders at a review meeting, KTR said the Hyderabad decline under Revanth Reddy reflected weakening civic systems and policy missteps. He claimed corruption and irregularities had increased, while governance standards had fallen across sectors.
Civic and economic concerns raised
KTR pointed to sanitation problems, public transport gaps and what he described as an industrial slowdown. Moreover, he alleged that real estate-driven decisions overshadowed infrastructure planning. According to him, land-related policies such as HYDRAA, TDR and the proposed Fourth City projects raised serious concerns.
He further claimed that power cuts, drinking water shortages and mosquito control issues had resurfaced. Consequently, he argued that the city’s growth momentum had slowed. He maintained that business confidence had weakened due to policy uncertainty.
Recalling the previous BRS tenure under K. Chandrashekar Rao, KTR said the administration ensured uninterrupted power supply, improved water access and better sanitation. In addition, he noted that the party secured the mayor’s post twice and expanded infrastructure over a decade.
During the meeting, party leaders discussed strategy to counter what they termed the Hyderabad decline under Revanth Reddy. KTR directed cadre mobilisation and outlined issues to raise in the Assembly. Senior leaders were assigned coordination responsibilities for GHMC, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad municipal affairs.
