Hyderabad ganja cultivation exposed after terrace raid

Hyderabad: Excise Enforcement teams uncovered Hyderabad ganja cultivation on Friday after seizing plants grown on a Malakpet terrace in what officials described as a localised cultivation racket feeding citywide cannabis sales.

Officers said some peddlers had been sourcing ganja from other regions, while others grew it inside residential buildings. The latest case surfaced at a building in Malakpet Gunj Mission Market, where two Bihar natives, Lavkush and Bimlesh, had been living on rent. Investigators found that the duo used the terrace to cultivate ganja as part of an illegal trade operating for months.

Checks intensified amid Hyderabad ganja cultivation

Excise teams recovered six plants measuring between three and six metres in height, along with 55 grams of dried ganja prepared for distribution. Officials said the men initially came to the city seeking work but began growing ganja on the terrace about six months ago.

Personnel seized all plants and processed material before detaining the accused. They later handed the men over to Kachiguda Excise Police Station for further action. Officers added that inspections across the city would continue to curb Hyderabad ganja cultivation and disrupt related sales networks.
