India showcases agri-food ecosystem at Gulfood 2026 with 161 exhibitors

New Delhi: India will present its diverse agri-food ecosystem at Gulfood 2026 through 161 exhibitors, as it takes on the role of Partner Country at the global food trade event for the first time.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority is leading India’s participation under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Through an expanded presence, APEDA aims to reinforce India’s position as a reliable sourcing destination and a key contributor to global food security.

Compared to previous editions, India significantly scaled up its presence. The Indian Pavilion doubled in size from last year and now covers 1,434 square metres. This expansion reflected rising global demand for Indian agri-food products and increased participation from exporters, institutions and startups.

The pavilion brings together exporters, Farmer Producer Organisations, cooperatives, startups, state government agencies and national institutions. Together, they present a comprehensive picture of India’s export-ready agri-food ecosystem.

Exhibitors from 25 states and regions are participating, including Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Through this participation, India is showcasing region-specific products, GI-tagged items, organic produce and value-added foods.

Gulfood 2026 India pavilion highlights startups and institutions

A major highlight is the BHARATI Pavilion, APEDA’s flagship platform for export-ready agri-food and agri-tech startups. Located in the Startup Zone at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the pavilion features eight high-potential startups selected from over 100 applicants nationwide.

These startups are displaying innovative products and technology-driven solutions aligned with APEDA’s Farm to Foreign vision. In addition, the Indian Pavilion includes a dedicated Culinary Area where a renowned chef will conduct live demonstrations of Indian cuisines, enhancing buyer engagement.

India’s participation is further strengthened by national institutions such as NAFED, the Spices Board, Tea Board of India, National Turmeric Board, Indian Rice Exporters Federation and several state cooperative bodies. Their presence underscores institutional support for agri-food exports.

The showcase also includes a strong focus on pulses, grains and cereals, reinforcing India’s status as a leading global producer and exporter. Displays emphasise quality, sustainability, traceability and compliance with international standards.

Gulfood 2026 is spread across Dubai Expo City and the Dubai World Trade Centre, with India maintaining a strong presence at both venues. Moreover, APEDA is undertaking extensive branding across Dubai as part of India’s Partner Country status.

Officials said the participation aligns with opportunities created by the India–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Through this initiative, APEDA aims to strengthen buyer–seller linkages, promote Indian brands globally and consolidate India’s role in the global agri-food value chain.
