New Delhi: India and Brazil signed an India Brazil postal MoU on Sunday to deepen cooperation in postal services, digital transformation, and inclusive service delivery.
Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Communications, Government of India, and H.E. Mr. Frederico de Siqueira Filho, Minister of Communications of Brazil, signed the agreement during the State Visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to India.
The India Brazil postal MoU set up a broad framework for collaboration between India’s Department of Posts and Brazil’s Ministry of Communications. It aimed to expand strategic partnership and knowledge exchange in the postal domain.
Under the agreement, both sides will exchange best practices in postal policies and operations. They will also strengthen universal service systems and address mechanisms. In addition, the pact covered cooperation in digital transformation, e-commerce logistics, and postal financial services.
India Brazil postal MoU to boost digital and UPU cooperation
The India Brazil postal MoU also provided for capacity building, training programmes, and technical exchanges. Moreover, the two countries will launch joint initiatives and strategic projects of mutual interest.
Both sides agreed to enhance coordination in multilateral forums, including the Universal Postal Union. They also committed to promoting South–South cooperation for inclusive and sustainable growth.
Officials will implement the partnership through exchange visits, joint workshops, and structured information sharing. India will share its experience in large-scale postal transformation, digital services, and citizen-centric delivery systems.
The agreement will remain in force for five years with automatic renewal provisions. It will operate in line with the laws and regulations of both countries. The MoU further reinforced the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership and expanded engagement between the two Global South partners.
