India GDP growth of 7.8% hailed by PM Modi as major feat

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India GDP growth of 7.8% in the first quarter of FY 2026-27 as a “herculean feat” on Monday.

Modi said the strong growth reflected the collective strength and resilience of the people of India. He also credited the country’s performance despite several global economic challenges.

The Prime Minister pointed to oil price shocks and supply chain disruptions as major pressures on the global economy. At the same time, he said India maintained strong growth amid wider uncertainties.

In a post on X, Modi described the 7.8% GDP growth as an “exemplary” performance. He said the result showed India’s ability to withstand external economic pressures.

The Prime Minister also linked the latest figures to the resilience of the Indian economy. According to him, people’s collective strength helped the country maintain its growth momentum.

India GDP growth reflects resilience amid global uncertainty

Modi said India achieved the 7.8% growth rate despite oil price shocks. He also highlighted supply chain issues that affected economies amid continuing global uncertainty.

The Prime Minister further used the development to reject pessimistic assessments about India’s economic performance. He said, “Doomsayers were doomed and India bloomed…yet again!”

The latest GDP figure covers the first quarter of FY 2026-27. The Prime Minister’s remarks came after the growth figure was reported for the April-June quarter.

Modi said the performance demonstrated the strength of the Indian people. He also stressed the country’s resilience while facing disruptions in global markets and supply chains.

The Prime Minister’s statement placed the latest growth figure in the wider context of India’s economic performance. He said the country had continued to grow despite external shocks.

The 7.8% figure therefore emerged as the key point in his message. Modi presented the growth as evidence of India’s ability to withstand uncertainty and sustain economic momentum.
